Hollow Book Project

Okay so my new project as i mentioned earlier is making my own secret hollow book (y'kno for hiding candy and stuff) so im going to show you how to make one!                                                                    Step1: First of all find a book that you and noone else wants anymore. It must me hardback and 2in. thick is a good size. and then here are the materials needed and i will list them.

 You'll need some glue (elmers, mod podge, or like tacky glue), and exacto knife and a box cutter, a ruler (i know i didnt have one in my picture sorry) , a container to hold your glue/water solution, and a paint brush    .                                                                                                                                              Step2: take a few pages in the front and save them for later. then, paint the sides of your book(not including the saved pages) with your water/glue solution just enought so that it soaks prety well but not a ton.

                                                                                                                              Step3: Next you need to mark at least one inch all the way along the sides of the book with a ruler. then trace these lines with an exacto knife. and then its time to start cutting. this is the part that takes the longest. you can use a dremyl tool but it might cut through the back without you knowing it.try to keep your lines straight and the slower you go the smoother and straighter your lines will be.

Step4: after you have cut as deep as you want your hole to be, your should get your paintbrush and paint glue along the cut you made. if you want you can put one of the sander thingys (lol) on the dremyl tool and clean up the cuts. I took my flyleaf and glued it down then cut it open it gave it a nice look. After you have done all of this your hollow book will be done, but be creative, add your own ideas, and most of all have fun!!!
